The pandemic as an intensive learning program

The CEVEYGROUP initiates and accompanies learning processes. In more than 30 online workshops, we discussed with leaders whose requirement is to make strategic decisions in the company. It became clear that the pandemic is a global and intensive learning program in which we have to come to a new understanding almost daily about how to deal with the dynamic development. Corporate strategies, whose ever shorter duration and adaptation have already been discussed earlier under the collective term “agility”, are thus not only given the function of defining the framework for corporate goals, but increasingly also that of aligning controlled experimentation and collaboration.

Experiments cost money and can fail. Is that a mistake? No. Even failed experiments bring us further. The prerequisite is that we are willing to learn from it and see it as an essential part of our cooperation. What we need is a collective thoughtfulness, initiative, consistency in implementation, a sense of proportion and the courage to fail. Failure does not mean that mistakes were made. Errors affect standardized processes. They refer to what is complicated (not complex). Failure or miscarriage, on the other hand, have something to do with decisions made under uncertainty. In other words, with “emerging practices”, with learning processes in the face of complex problems.
